Cheap Fertilizer for your Houseplants
Looking for a cheap fertilizer for your houseplants? Look no farther than you fishbowl or aquarium. When you perform those water changes on your aquarium and fish bowl, you are draining highly nutritious water full of dissolved organics and fish detritus (fish fecal material). These elements are very beneficial to your houseplants, are a natural fertilizer and only costs you the amount of money in water to replace the water you took out. You can do an experiment with two houseplants. Water one plant with water from the tap and one plant with water from a fish bowl or aquarium. Before long, the aquarium water plant will be greener, more lush and will just plain look healthier than the plant watered with regular tap water. What is better is that as water ages and is aerated in an aquarium, the chlorine and many bad elements in your tap water dissipate. This makes a more pure water for your houseplant. One word of caution: If you decide to try this, you will not want to use brackish water or marine water. The salt in the water may be hazardous to your plants in the levels they occur in these types of water. If you do have houseplants but do not have fish, you may want to consider getting a fish bowl. Not only will you gain another friend, but you will also have a free source for great houseplant water! |
